Little Bulldogs

About the Program

Northbrook School District 27 is thrilled to announce that we will be offering an early childhood program beginning with the 2023-2024 school year!

The Little Bulldogs early childhood program will be held at Hickory Point School. There will be a morning session and an afternoon session, with approximately 16 children in each session. The program will be offered five days per week and follow the District 27 School Calendar. The morning session, generally for students age 3, will meet from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  The afternoon session, generally for students age 4, will meet from 12:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Who we serve: This program will serve 3 to 5 year olds in a blended early childhood classroom model. This model provides integrated support for individual students’ needs. The model is designed to be an inclusive play-based learning environment, serving students that are typically developing (community peers) alongside supporting students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).

Staffing: Early Childhood Special Education Teacher, Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist (as IEP outlines), Adaptive Physical Education, Instructional Assistants

Curriculum: District 27 will utilize evidence-based early childhood curriculum resources to support the needs of all students in the classroom. Curriculum resources will include: Creative Curriculum, Jolly Phonics, Handwriting without Tears, and Incredible Flexible You. Students in the Little Bulldogs program will also have weekly opportunities to participate in physical education and Hickory Point library visits.

  • Transportation and tuition costs are covered for students that qualify for special education and have an IEP recommendation of a blended early childhood classroom.
