Report Cards for Pre-K through Second Grade

Parents can access the first-trimester report cards electronically via the Parent Portal starting at noon on December 4. Report cards are available electronically upon the conclusion of the first and second trimesters. A printed copy will be sent home with students on the last day of the third trimester.

For instructions on accessing your child’s report card on Infinite Campus, view this 30-second video. The first section of the video is intended for Wood Oaks students, while the second section is designed for students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.

In Summary:

  1. To access your child’s report, log in to Parent Portal.
  2. Then, on the left, click “More.” On the new main window, you can now click Online report cards.
  3. Once you click on that, you must choose your child’s name from the drop-down menu, then the report card you wish to view.

Stop, Walk, and Talk

The physical and emotional safety of every student and staff member is of the utmost importance to our school.  Stop, walk, and talk is a research-based strategy that helps students stand up for themselves. Our students will learn more about this strategy in PE classes this fall. We identify critical concerns that are important to our students and staff. This letter aims to discuss the proactive plan we have in place to address conflicts. Conflict occurs when a person or group seeks to exert power over another and uses that power to achieve their goals at the expense of someone else.

We are attempting to address this behavior using various tools and techniques that will help us prevent such behavior. Hickory Point has a school-wide Positive Behavior and Intervention System. Stop, Walk, and Talk is a strategy that teaches students how to stand up to behavior they feel is offensive or unwanted. The technique aims to empower students in conflict resolution skills and promote self-advocacy. Students and staff are trained on expectations. We encourage parents to use the same language at home. We aim to establish a strong partnership between school and home to manage this issue effectively. Please talk to your child's teacher if you have any questions or concerns.

Adopt-a-Shelf Library Program!

HP Library is excited to introduce the Adopt-a-Shelf program! This initiative is a fantastic way to promote student ownership in the library and engage children directly with the book collection. Second grade students (either individually or in pairs) "adopt" a specific shelf or section in the library. Their job is to become the stewards of that section, selecting books of their choice to display for their peers and staff to view and check out. Students have the option to design a display flyer by hand or use Canva to personalize their shelf. This library program encourages students to actively participate in the library, taking pride in keeping the space organized and accessible for everyone. This hands-on responsibility builds respect for our shared resources and fosters a lifelong love for the library!
