Wishing You Joy

Dear Hickory Point Families,

As the year comes to a close, we have been reflecting on all the outstanding accomplishments since August. We continue to be impressed with the optimistic spirit of the Hickory Point community. We have so much to look forward to in the New Year—all the best for 2026. Have a relaxing winter break with your family and friends. On behalf of the Hickory Point staff, we wish you and your family joy and happiness. 

Lunch with Learner Initiative 

Hickory Point and the Hickory Point PTA are excited to offer the successful Lunch with My Learner Program, connecting families and the school again this year. Starting on January 20, 2026, two slots will be available per lunch session each day, allowing one family member to sign up to join their student at lunch. The family member coming in can sit at the learner's lunch table with the learner's classmates during the 20-minute lunch break. 

Research consistently shows that connecting home and school proactively, positively, and purposefully has a positive impact on children's achievement and overall well-being. We have many parents who want to volunteer and support our work. We are creating a new opportunity for parents to have a chance to eat lunch with their children.

To provide structure, sustainability, and equal opportunity for all within this program, we have established some basic ground rules and expectations: 

1. Sign up using the available time slots below to inform the school staff of your intent to join your child for lunch. You must be signed up for that date and time to participate in this program. In the "My Comment" section, please list your child's name and teacher. 
   • LUNCHTIMES ARE AS FOLLOWS:
     • 11:30-11:50 am All Kindergarten classes and Mrs. Keavy, Mrs. Ozog, Ms. Quick, and Mrs B. Spangler
     • 11:55-12:15 pm All Second grade classes and Mrs. Harrington, Ms. Kaczmarek, and Mrs. Petrenko
2. At this time, we can only allow for ONE family member at each visit. 
3. We can only allow for ONE visit per learner. If your family has more than one child attending Hickory Point, you may sign up for one slot for each of your children, OR you may choose to have lunch with both of them during the same visit (please list both of their names and teachers in the "My Comment" section of the sign up please do not sign up for more than one time slot. We have over 250 families trying to schedule a time slot. You can only eat in the lunchroom once with your child.
4. Please arrive at most 5 minutes before your scheduled time. Please sign in with Verkada,  bring your photo ID, and check in at the office to receive a badge.
5. You may provide lunch for yourself and your child only. You may not bring in items to be shared with other students. Carbonated beverages are discouraged. 
6. Photos are not permitted. 
7. We ask that you remain with your child at their assigned table for your 20-minute lunch.
8. Once lunch is over and your child leaves for their next activity, please sign out in the office.
