CONFERENCES

Thank you so much for your partnership throughout the year, especially during parent-teacher conferences. We value the collaboration between school and home. We love your children like our own. Our teachers work extremely hard to meet the needs of all students and help each child learn and grow. With your support, we provide our students with the best possible education and experience possible. Thank you for trusting us with your children.

SAEBERS

The spring universal screening for SAEBERS is open until February 16. This universal tool is the Social Academic and Emotional Behavior Rating Scale (SAEBRS), which focuses on the following areas:

  • Social (Arguing, Temper Outbursts, Disruptive Behavior)

  • Emotional (Sadness, Anxiety, Withdrawal, Lack of Resilience)

  • Academic (Academic Engagement, Production of Acceptable Work, Preparedness).

If a screening shows that a student would benefit from additional support, parents will be contacted and collaborate with the school team to problem-solve and determine the next steps.

Thank you for your support and assistance in ensuring each of our students has the opportunity to achieve academic and social-emotional success. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.

Valentine’s Day

We are excited to celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14. Children may bring Valentine’s cards if they include everyone in their class. Thank you to the room parents for planning and facilitating our celebration. Please remember that we don’t allow any food items to be distributed in class as we pass out Valentine’s Day cards.

We are looking forward to spreading kindness and love at Hickory Point. Thank you for being so cooperative in making the parties a happy and safe occasion for everyone.

Dental Reminder

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

Children need good oral health to speak confidently, express themselves, be healthy, and be ready to learn. Poor oral health has been related to lower school performance, poor social relationships, and less success later in life (Illinois Department of Public Health).

Illinois law (Child Health Examination Code, 77 Ill. Adm. Code 665) states all children in kindergarten,  second, sixth, and ninth grades of any public, private, or parochial school shall have a dental examination. The examination must have occurred 18 months before May 15 of the school year (between November 15, 2023 - May 15, 2024). A licensed dentist must complete the examination and date the Proof of School Dental Examination Form. If you cannot provide a completed Proof of School Dental Examination Form, please submit a Dental Examination Waiver Form.

If you have not submitted proof of a dental examination for your Kindergartener and your second grader for the 2023 - 2024 school year, please either send a copy of the form with your student(s) to the school or email the form to hphealthforms@nb27.org. Form(s) are due by Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

Please get in touch with me with any questions or concerns you may have.
