Hickory Point Happenings
Week 27- March 11, 2019
In this edition:
Professional learning day
Sneak peak at months to come
School-wide dance party
Our wonderful Hickory Point teachers are lifelong learners and continuously expand their instructional pedagogy in many ways throughout the school year. In addition to this, District 27 dedicates three days each school year for teachers to engage in professional learning. On Monday, our Kindergarten teachers focused on improving and differentiating math instruction. Our first grade teachers focused on a new light and sound science unit to be implemented in the spring. Second grade teachers focused on incorporating differentiation into their current writing units. In addition to this, all teachers participated in additional training on our District 27 Emergency Preparedness Plan and social emotional learning.
Trimester 3 began on March 5
Think spring! We are already in the third trimester of the school year. It is hard to believe! We will have a busy few months. We will have our spring workshop/musical programs. The 3 R’s club (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) will lead us in environmental efforts to help teach our students the small things they can do to help make our world a better place. Shabonee is hosting a joint Family Night for all our Hickory Point and Shabonee students in April. This will be a fun opportunity for our second grade students to get a glimpse of life at their upcoming school. Believe it or not, we are already planning for the 2019-2020 school year. We have so much to look forward to this spring.
Report Cards come home on March 15
Second trimester report cards will come home with the children on March 15. Please check their folders and backpacks for this information. As always, contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
PBIS celebration at Hickory Point
Students have been doing a wonderful job being responsible, respectful and kind at Hickory Point. Our grade level containers are full to the rim with student Bulldog Bucks! We are so proud of all of our students. Today, we hosted a school-wide celebration. We had every student and staff member dancing in the gym. Ask your child about our special celebration today.
Have a wonderful weekend.
