2020-21 School Year Resources for Parents
We have created a resource for parents on our district web page that includes a great deal of helpful information such as technology support, FAQ’s, updated guidance from health organizations, and more. The District 27 administrative team hosted a series of webinars with information about the start of school. The webinars were recorded and are available on the District 27 website. There is also a webinar for the students who will be learning in a 100% remote learning environment.
Daily Health Questionnaire
I want to remind parents to please complete the health questionnaire for your child each day. As children arrive, they move through a temperature check and scan their ID, which verifies that parents have certified they are symptom-free. When the survey is not completed, it slows the line of children that can enter the building. Additional information about this process is available on our district and school websites.
Travel Quarantine (Reminder)
Every year we administer STAR assessments in September, January, and May. We give the math test to students in grades K-8, with the exception of students in our Algebra and Geometry courses. The STAR Reading assessment is administered to students in grades 2-5.
Testing will begin the week of September 14.
Students attending in-person school: We will administer the assessments across two days per content area to ensure that students are able to take them in the classroom. I will publish the schedule next Friday in the Principal’s Newsletter.
Students attending 100% remotely: We are planning to administer the assessments remotely in small groups. You will receive more information at the end of next week from Mrs. Spak.
Dear Parent of Remote Students,
Your child's teacher has materials prepared for the next two weeks of learning. Remote materials pick up will be held on Thursday, September 10 at Hickory Point and the Kindergarten Center between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. The materials will be organized in the foyer at Hickory Point. Parents of kindergarten students should ring the bell. A staff member will bring your child's materials. Thank you!
Video Curriculum Night
This year we are excited to offer a Video Curriculum Night to provide parents/guardians an opportunity to meet their student’s teachers and learn about their classroom routines. This year's Curriculum Night will be pre-recorded to allow all families access to the material at a time and pace that works best for them. Please see your child’s Canvas page for details. Videos will be available on September 8 at 6:30 pm.
