Dear Hickory Point Parents,

We continue to be amazed by all of your support and partnership.  We know this year presented all of us with many challenges.  We know it was a challenging year for our young students. They have persevered and learned so much. We are so proud of them.

We appreciate your open and honest communication and willingness to support our work. Please know how grateful we are for your partnership. We are sad to say goodbye to our second grade students. We wish them luck as they become Shabonee Dolphins. We will miss them. They are an extraordinary group of children.

Also, we have many staff who supported our students who will be leaving Hickory Point. We thank them for their service and dedication to our school community: We wish them well in their new endeavor. Please join us in recognizing the following staff: Ms. Kiera Abramson, Ms. Anayeli Borjas, Mrs. Kelly Curin, Ms. Una Ikanovic, Mrs. Alison Kingsley, Mrs. Mara Lovisetto, Mrs. Jennifer Massarelli, Ms.Kelly McDermott, Ms.Jordan McElligott, Mrs. Leah Molay, Ms. Maya Munson, Ms. Michelle Myers, Ms. Violetta Sokorska,  Mr. Alex Straczek, Mrs. Debbie Simon and Mr. Ben Zimmerman. All of these staff members contributed to our success this year. Once a Bulldog, Always a Bulldog.

We wish you a summer full of memories, relaxation, and cherished moments with your children.  We will see our Bulldogs in August. The first day of school for 2021-2022 is August 19, 2021. Until that time, be well.

Accessing report cards

Parents can access the report cards electronically on June 2 after 12:00 PM via Parent Portal. You will need the same login and password that you used for registration and to access the report cards previously this school year.

For instructions on accessing your child’s report card on Infinite Campus, view this 30-second video. The first section of the video is for Wood Oaks students, and the second section addresses kindergarten through fifth grade.

Here is a summary of the steps:

  1. To access your child’s report, log into Parent Portal.

  2. Then on the left, click “More.” On the new main window, you can now click Online report cards.

  3. Once you click on that, you will need to choose your child’s name from the drop-down menu, then the report card you wish to view.

  4. Should you have any difficulty accessing your child’s report card, please use the District 27 technology support page to request assistance, and a member of the technology staff will reach out to assist you.

Second Grade Reflex Math Open Through July

Math fact fluency refers to accurately recalling the basic facts in multiplication and division quickly and effortlessly. When children gain automaticity with these facts, they have attained mastery that allows them to remember them without conscious effort or attention. Children who have achieved fluency can devote their working memory to problem-solving and learning new concepts and skills. When a child has not gained fluency, it hinders progress with problem-solving as the child is using the working memory to compute the operation instead. To help support your child’s fluency growth, the district has extended the Reflex Math membership through at least July 31, 2021. Your child will be able to log into his/her account even though the school year has ended. As a parent, you can log in using your child’s information to check on his/her progress. This will help to support your child’s transition to the next grade. If your child has difficulty using the program, please feel free to use flashcards or other online resources.

Raz Kids

Students who currently have Raz Kids will have access to this tool until July 31.

Field Day

Students will participate in a field day on Tuesday, June 1, at Hickory Point from 12:30-2:30 (weather permitting).  There will be several engaging and interactive stations that students will rotate through outside. Please apply sunscreen before arriving at school if needed. Also, please make sure your child dresses for the weather and brings a water bottle. We are unable to have rain dates for these events. Remote students will participate in asynchronous activities posted in Canvas.

  • Unfortunately, kindergarten field day was canceled due to the weather today. Students are enjoying activities in their classrooms.
  • Just a quick reminder, if you change your child’s dismissal plan, please let the office know.

  • Fully remote families- Please drop off all district-owned materials, Chromebook, bag, charger, and library books at Hickory Point (kindergarten as well) on June 2 between 1 and 4 pm.
