Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week

Thank you so much for the emails, videos, and pictures. We loved the messages from our students and parents over the past week. We are grateful for your recognition and partnership.

Virtual Recess (final posting)

You may have noticed a new “virtual recess” slide in the slide deck this week. This is entirely optional for students and provides them time to interact with their peers. Virtual Recess will take place daily in each grade from 2:00-2:30 and 2:30-3:00. Some of the activities include show and tell, freeze dance, legos, and Simon says. We hope your child enjoys this time to “play” with peers.

School district books and materials

Dear Hickory Point Parents,

We hope you are all doing well. We appreciate your partnership and dedication over the past few months. We know you have teacher owned materials, library books, classroom library books, and other district-provided learning supplies at home.  We have decided to delay returning these materials. We want our students to have access to books over the summer. We will have a process for collecting the school district books and supplies when school resumes in the fall. Thank you.

E-Learning Survey and schedule for the last two weeks in May

Dear Hickory Point Parents,

It’s hard to believe in a few weeks, and we will be closing up the 2019-2020 school year on June 2.  We are so proud of our students and their response to the unusual circumstances we encountered this year. We would love your feedback about E-Learning. Dr. Kroeze sent a parent survey in his weekly email. Here is a link to the surveyPlease take a few moments to provide your insights and feedback.

Next week will be a typical week of E-Learning. Friday, May 22 will be the last day of Friday K-2 Options based STEAM learning slide deck. There is no school on Monday, May 25. Have a great Memorial Day.

Tuesday, May 26 through Friday, May 29, will be  E-Learning days directed by the curriculum slide decks. On Monday, June 1st, students will have Google Hangout Meetings, K-2 Options STEAM learning slide deck and a Virtual Field Day. Mr. Kraft and Mr. Muff have created a day filled with physical activities and fun. Tuesday, June 2 is our last day of school. Teachers and support staff will be hosting Google Hangout Meetings to say goodbye to our students.  We hope this information is helpful to you.

Sincerely,

Maureen Deely and Meggan Buchanan

Summer reading virtual program

Due to limitations of COVID-19, students will have the opportunity to participate in a Bingo based reading program this summer in place of our usual summer reading program. You will be provided with three different Bingo boards (June, July, and August), with fun options to help engage your child in reading throughout the summer. Bingo boards will also come with recording sheets for students to track their reading choices and take notes based on completed Bingo squares. Students can earn one prize book for each month, as long as they complete at least one Bingo per board. They will be able to collect their prize books soon after we return to school. Stay tuned for more details, coming soon!
