Hickory Point Happenings August 27, 2021

PBIS

Your child has learned how to BARRK this week!  Hickory Point students completed a series of lessons that taught them the basic expectations of our “pack”.

This framework is a part of our District 27 PBIS program (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) to promote positive behaviors in our schools. During their BARRK lessons, teachers demonstrated the expected and unexpected ways to behave at school Then, students practiced the expected behaviors. Additionally, classroom teachers will be instructing students on how to successfully BARRK through their classroom expectations over the coming weeks.

During the school year, students will earn Bulldog Bucks to acknowledge positive behaviors. These are randomly given when students demonstrate expected behavior. Bulldog Bucks will be kept in classroom jars and used towards class, grade level, or school goals. Feel free to print out these special “home”  Bulldog Bucks to use at home. Thank you for reinforcing expected school behavior at home.

Updated Travel Guidance

The Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) recently changed its travel guidelines and is following CDC recommendations for unvaccinated individuals. We continue to follow these guidelines to keep our schools safe. Below are the most recent guidelines for domestic and international travel.

  • DOMESTIC: Vaccinated individuals do not require quarantine or testing. Unvaccinated individuals who have traveled domestically to a CDC state of high transmission should get a rapid or PCR test 3-5 days after travel AND stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel. Unvaccinated individuals who have traveled and are not tested should stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days. Test results should be submitted to the school nurse prior to returning to school. Persons traveling for less than 24 hours are exempt from this guidance.

  • INTERNATIONAL: All international travelers are required to be tested prior to returning to the U.S., regardless of vaccination status. Unvaccinated travelers should get a rapid or PCR test 3-5 days after travel AND stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel. Unvaccinated individuals who have traveled and are not tested should stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days. Test results should be submitted to the school nurse prior to returning to school.

Change in how your child gets home

It’s always better for children to know how they are going home before they come to school. We know that things may occur during the day and you need to make a change in your child’s going home plan. Please try to make any changes before 1:30 pm each day by calling the Hickory Point Office at 847.498.3830.  For other changes that occur before the school day starts,  please use the HP going home note linked here. Thank you!

Blue Dashboard sign Reminder
